Today’s blog is really special since it was the first time I got to dine in, again. The last time, I dined in was around March 13, 2020, almost 4 and a half months ago. Too long!

I stumbled upon this restaurant called Toppings Vaughan when I was just chilling with friends. After playing soccer in Vaughan, we got super hungry. We didn’t want to order Popeyes yet again and wanted something different. In Vaughan, there are many Persian restaurants due to the demographics and Toppings caught my attention. (P.S. I loved Persian and Afghan food, super tasty).
Anywho, I found this restaurant on Uber Eats, as I searched for Halal restaurants nearby. Uber Eats and Google Maps are both excellent tools to use to find new spots!
Being the cheap me, I decided to rather call the restaurant myself and pick up the food myself. I find that Uber Eats charges a delivery fee as well as it inflates the menu prices too. Sneaky guys! So to save money, go pick it up.
When I arrived at the restaurant, they had a cool method where you call them and they come outside to drop off the food. Basically curbside drop-off. Let’s backtrack for a bit and tell you what I ordered. I got the special for 4, party pack, and it included 2 large pizzas with 4 toppings, 2 lb wings, 4 pops and 4 dips. I got Italian sausage on one with peppers and veggies and grilled chicken on the other. For the wings, I got 1 lb sweet chilli and 1 lb jerk. I loved the pizzas and wings so much! Never seen or tasted jerk style wings, sooo GOOD!
Now, that I got the food. I met the employee there who was super nice and it turned out the he was the franchise owner, Hussein. Fast forward our conversation, Hussein invited me to come in to the restaurant one day and shoot a video and take some pictures. Mashallah such a great opportunity, I could’t believe it!
On the day of my invitation, I got to dine in at the restaurant and it was amazing. It was just me, the other franchise owner and the employees, no one else. I was treated as VIP, haha. The best was that it was perfect for social/physical distancing too.
For dining in, I decided to get onion rings, crispy dunk (a deep-fried chicken burger) with your choice of 25 different sauces, a strawberry Oreo milkshake and a Tex Mex large pizza to-go.
All in all, the food was outstanding. Freshly made and served quick with exceptional customer service. Check out my vlog below for a more detailed and visual review.
When I went to pay for my meal and takeout, I was shocked to hear that it was all free! This was so kind of them. The last time I got a free meal was when I went to Kandahar Kebab. The manager there was super humble and told me to order anything off the menu, and I got to meet the owner’s son, who subscribed to my YouTube channel. 😎
