The Halal Guys in Toronto!

Location: 563 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4Y 1Z2

Halal: Yes! says in the name lol

The first time I went to New York, a couple of years back, I found out there was this Halal food cart that served the best gyro platters in the city. The lines were super long but I was excited to try out this platter. In Toronto, there are not many food carts but in New York City, it is a different story. Food carts are located around Manhattan and offer people a delicious, fast and cheap meal.

The Halal Guys started out in 1990 as a food cart on 53rd Street and 6th avenue, downtown Manhattan, New York City. 30 years later, what started as a humble food cart expanded to 200 locations around the globe through franchising.

I loved what Halal Guys had to offer and the food was so tasty, I never had a gyro platter like that before. The only problem was back in Toronto we didn’t have a Halal Guys.

Fast forward a couple of years, the problem was solved and the Halal Guys had opened up a store on Yonge and Wellesley :D.

Classic Gyro Platter

I got the classic gyro platter. Mixed with beef and chicken pieces, accompanied with rice, pita bread, jalapenos, salad and the special white and red sauce. I have to say what makes this dish is the sauces.

The food was great in Toronto, although I must say having it at the original food cart in Manhattan was a better experience. Just waiting in line and then eating outside with the other customers was fun.

That’s it for this short post. Sorry I didn’t get to chance to take more pictures. Was busy enjoying the food :p.
