Kandahar Kabab – Great Halal Afghan Food at a Low Cost

Address: 45 Overlea Blvd #180, Toronto, ON M4H 1C3.

Kandahar Kabab has three locations and the newly opened location at Overlea Blvd. and Thorncliffe is a must visit. The food at Kandahar Kabab is not only authentic Afghan food but also very delicious at an affordable price. You won’t be disappointed. And just to remind you again, it’s Halal!

The restaurant is pretty spacious and can be seen from a block away. It has ample parking too, so no need to worry, it’s not downtown. When you first walk into the restaurant, you will be greeted by a modern style fireplace, waterfall glass walls, a few chandeliers and depending on the time of year, a huge Christmas teddy bear. Pretty cool indeed. It is a great place to bring a lot of friends or coworkers as there is a lot of seating and booths too. Plus, the food is not expensive, so this is the perfect time to take your date out and for you to pay. Just remember not to show them the bill :p.

I would like to thank Kandahar Kebab’s owners and employees as they were really friendly and hospitable and gave us our order on the house. This is the first time, something like this has happened. Before going to Kandahar Kebab, we were set to head to this Indian restaurant. Unfortunately, they did not let us vlog so we went to Kandahar Kabab instead. The important thing is to not give up and always be positive. Because positivity and perseverance leads to success.

Now, let’s make this blog short and sweet and jump straight to the food… Kandahar (a city in Afghanistan) Kabab like its name implies, has Afghan cuisine. In my opinion, this type of cuisine is similar to Persian cuisine. The menu is packed with wonderful food to get. We got the chicken/beef kabab, chicken tikka and beef steak pieces. These all come with salad and rice and freshly baked Afghan naan as well as these amazing sauces. One is a white sauce (kind of like Tahini) and the other is a red sauce (similar to those Louisiana hot sauces). The chicken tikka had a nice spice to it and tasted like it was grilled with charcoals. Delicious! Also, try their shawarma. The pita bread they use for the shawarmas are freshly made on spot with these cool machines and the sandwich itself is pretty huge packed with meat and vegetables. To add on, the portion of the food is a lot, so be prepared to share or if you don’t care then save it for take-out. Also, don’t forget to get the mango lassi and if it’s hot out get the Falooda. Falooda is the best here. For those that don’t know, Falooda is a very popular dessert in the Indian subcontinent. It consists of rose syrup on ice cream, vermicelli and more.
